It was is the 1960's that I first set my eyes on an afghan...

I subscribed to a magazine called 'Animals' by Armand & Michaela Denis. The magazine contained a feature on the breed and  photographs of  Ch Sherekhan of Tarjih. He made such an impression on me that when I finished college and started work, I decided to buy an Afghan puppy....

He was a black and silver and his name was..

Saridaks Andizhan - 'Zhani' for short.

When Zhani was a little older we moved to Wales to work at a kennel who also kept Afghans. With the support of the owners we attended a few Open Shows where Zhani received his first BOB at the age of thirteen months, he went on to get the group that day and was in the final five for Best In show.

Zhani had a very limited show career as I didn't drive at the time, and it was very difficult using public transport. he was my constant companion for the next thirteen years and although he died without issue, His name will live on through my Affix and I will always be grateful that my introduction to our breed was through such a creature as he.....

While at the kennel in Wales Zhani was housed with their stud dog who turned out to be the sole off spring of the dog who got me interested in the beginning, Sherekhan.

His name was Springett's Cahyem Connello he was a very nervous boy but care and lots of patience in the end paid dividends and we became great friends.

When I came to leave at the end of the summer, I was asked if I would like to take Connello with me, of course I said "Yes"! but because I couldn't travel with two dogs and luggage, it was arranged that I would return for him.

Unfortunately he suffered a breakdown after I left and was put down. I have searched data bases for any links to his offspring but so far have failed.

Two decades were to pass before the Afghan story was to begin again.First came Kylie, then Jense and Leah.

These were the first to bear The ANDIZHAN Affix.

Kylie became our  foundation bitch.
